PLAYA LAPA for sale: 506-2735-5702,  2735-5229

Playa Lapa is a private beach front residence located in Carate, on the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica.  This beautiful custom built home of teak and purple heart wood has 2 bedrooms, two bathrooms, and an open-air cathedral living room.  A spiral staircase of purple heart and cara de tigre provides a stunning architectural accent rising up through the center of the house, with a master bedroom suite, guest room and railed walkway to the second level deck overlooking the ocean.  The spacious kitchen has a six-burner gas stove with oven, a chest refrigerator, laundry facilities and a lunch bar.   Included are full service place settings of china, glassware, stainless flatware, and commercial quality cookware and cutlery.  The furnishings throughout the house have been custom fabricated from zebrawood and include a colonial trestle dining table with benches and chairs, two comfortable futon armchairs with ottomans, and a matching futon sofa that folds out into a double bed.  With a queen bed in the master bedroom, and a double bed in the guest bedroom, Playa Lapa has a sleeping capacity for six.  There are spacious covered decks on the front, side, and back of the first floor, a large covered deck with 2 chaise lounges on the second level, and a small,  private deck off the master bedroom.  Ceiling fans are located in every room, and the house is fully screened, with steel security on all windows, and teak shutters surrounding the living room.  Casa Playa Lapa sits on 1.6 hectares of exotic botanicals, including 6 types of producing fruit trees, flowering ornamental landscape plants, and a copse of lowland palms that extend from the Carate road to the Pacific beach.  A sturdy footbridge from Playa Lapa's back yard crosses over the slough that feeds the adjacent Pejeperrito Lagoon. Sand dunes and coconut palms protect the casa from the pacific surf just fifty feet beyond.  A sustainable energy consumer, Playa Lapa functions in harmony with the environment, harvesting energy from the sun and water to power essential appliances in the casa.  Hot water is available via a passive solar water system in the roof.  There are no noisy, polluting gasoline generators, with an emphasis on good stewardship of the environment and conservation of our available resources.  Owing to its remoteness, Playa Lapa guests are best served by having a rental car with which to ferry supplies, as well as for personal sightseeing tours of more remote destinations on the surrounding Osa Peninsula.  However there is a public collectivo that runs between Carate and Puerto Jimenez, if one is sufficiently hail and hardy for hiking to all local destinations.
